NEWTON ROTARY 1976-78

Today we’re  going back to 1977. I’ve brought along a few copies of the NEWTARIAN, from that era that I’ll pass around.

Please note some of  the esteemed names during that period that served as officers:

Lewis Dolan ; William Cox; Warren Welsh; William Houghton; Charles Iliff Jr; Alden Hall; Tom Digby; Jack Hontz

You’ll note that the tradition, then, was to highlight a member, each week. One of them was Bob Fisher. I particularly note this since his name is spelled differently on the masthead and in the articles. Was he FISCHER or FISHER ??

Some of the highlights during this period were:

1)    The 77-78 officer induction was a Special Ladies Night Dinner at the NEWTONIAN – Dinner was $16  … (per couple)

2)    The Club picnic was held on Aug 21 at a farm in Johnsonburg. ROTARY ANN’s were instructed to bring a covered dish.

It’s interesting to note the special status of women, back then.
