Next week: We will meet at Bristol Glen once again to hear the Kittatinny Singers.
Last week: We gathered at the Hampton Diner despite the snowy weather (about 20 of us). Unfortunately, the representative from Social Services who was supposed to present today’s program could not attend the meeting due to the weather.
Guests and Visiting Rotarians: Stephanie Hontz (who had a snow day from her teaching position at Kittatinny HS). Denise Current welcomed our guest
Happy $:
Tom Brodhecker gave a happy $5 to have gotten his corn in before the snow came. Others were not so lucky.
Mark Hontz gave a happy $5 to report that his son, Thomas, is now the conductor of the Princeton Band. He is also happy for the snow day and to have Stephanie with him today.
Denise is also happy for the snow day!
Jan Pasculli is happy for the pack-the-bags gathering at Denise’s Barn. She loved the atmosphere and comradery.
Barbara Miller is also happy for pack-the-bags event, and brought in a copy of the NJ Herald story with 3 pictures!
Picture Fines: None.
Announcements:
Carl Lazzaro asked that Rotarians write to JCP&L to let them know that using antiquated equipment has led to unreliable power provision for most of Sussex County, discouraging new businesses from moving to the county. Let them know that treating Sussex County as an economic afterthought is not acceptable and request updated equipment.
Barbara Miller asked that everyone remember that she is a Board member of Sussex Rural Electric, NOT JCP&L.
Thank you to everyone who helped out at the pack-the-bags dinner, and who helped to move the bags to Social Services after the dinner.
Through the relentless efforts of our Food Booth Committee, and especially Buz, Carl, and Bill, the Farm & Horse Show Building and Grounds Committee has agreed to remove the tree which has been growing out of control at the Food Booth and causing the paving stones to buckle. They will also grind the stump.
We will not meet on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. We return to the Hampton Diner on January 8th.
Wallkill Valley Rotary Club will be having its annual Christmas party on Sunday, December 8th, at the Carriage House (formerly McKeowns restaurant) at Culvers’ Lake. The cost will be $36/head with a cash bar. The Kittatinny Chamber Singers will perform. Cocktails are at 6:30 PM with dinner at 7:30 PM. Please RSVP to Paul Katterman (see me for contact information). Cell (973) 477-2231 or email hpe.paulk@gmail.com .
We will be opening the Fair Booth to serve drinks at the Chili Open once again on January 25th. Jim Konzel will head up that effort and will reach out for volunteers.
Please Save the Date for the President’s Ball, to benefit Polio Plus, on Saturday, February 22nd, at the Somerville Elks Club in Bridgewater. It would be great if we could put a table together.
50/50: Tom Brodhecker won $5.50, but the cards were not available. Tom gets first draw next week.
