This week:  No meeting this week.  See you at the Fair!

Next Week:  T/B/A

Last Week:   In Service.  Barbara Miller asked that we remember the family of Garry LaFranco in our prayers.  There will be a memorial service for Garry on August 20th, time T/B/A.  Mark Hontz led us in song.  There were no guests this week.

Announcements:
  • The 50th annual Newton Rotary Golf Outing, to benefit the Newton Medical Center, will be held on Wednesday, September 13th.  In addition to the usual opportunities to sponsor tee signs and golfers, there will be a Commemorative Journal, offering advertising opportunities and a “Friends” listing.  Please contact Dawn.sullivan@atlantichealth.org or (973) 579-8309 to place an ad. The deadline for ads is 8/15/17.
(Fliers available for printing on Rotary web page.)
  • Bill Kehoe, our President-elect, is looking for ideas for programs.  Please see Bill if you have an idea or referral.
  • Club fines ($1, all in fun) will be enforced beginning with the next 5th Wednesday (August 30th).  Finable offenses (not wearing a pin or badge, addressing a member by his formal title, etc.) will be announced (and created) as needed.
  • If you have not yet signed up for a minimum of 2 shifts at the Fair booth, we still need help at almost every evening shift.  Please email Pam Lazzaro at ptl18@ptd.net or Nancy Morrisey at irish488@hotmail.com to let us know you will be there.
  • We need pictures to advertise our Rotary activities in the NJ Herald, and everyone can be a photographer.  Email your Rotary-related photos to john@fredericksfuel.com .
  • Denise contributed $90 from the sale of Trash to Treasures donations at a co-worker’s yard sale.
  • Buz Tomasino received a check for $1,000 from the use of our Fair booth during the Garden State Horse Show last April.
Happy Dollars:
  • Denise Current is happy to have donated three buses this year to international charitable programs in Ghana, Nigeria and Haiti.
  • Jerry Nechamkin is happy for all the contributions that his grandson received when he came to Rotary to talk about fundraising activities at his Early Act program.
  • Charles Grotyohann is happy that his son is entering his senior year at Ramapo College, where he is an accounting major and already has an offer of employment in accounting when he graduates.
  • John Roberts is happy that his fall into the pool this weekend (while cleaning it), with his iPhone in his pocket, had a happy ending – a new iPhone!
  • Bob Morgenstern is happy that his son has accepted a position in Public Relations with the US Treasury Department.
  • Bud Luthman was especially impressed by last week’s newsletter.  Carolyn Ottenbreit was also impressed…and thinks that Bud should consider becoming the regular editor.
50/50:  Barbara Miller won $10, but left the pot ($305) to grow.
