President Carolyn opened the meeting at the appointed time (as usual) by leading us in the pledge of allegiance

Alden, sounding like Charles Wesley, prayed that God would bless our meal and fellowship.

Just as we were starting to sound pretty good singing God Bless America, Steve switched us to My Country ‘Tis of Thee.

Mark welcomed our guest, Kathleen Hannan, with words that would have made all Princeton grads proud.

President Carolyn had a few announcements.  There is a new list showing dates and items we are to bring for the homeless project.  Our club will be assisting at Manna House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Halloween.  Let Barbara Miller know if you can assist.  Farm to Table event is Nov. 2.  Denise needs help with set-up the day before.

Happy $$$ and there were many. A third of the members in attendance were happy.  One member was not excited by all the happiness.  Here we go:

Alden was happy for the Bristol Glen Gala that raised over $100,000.  He was also happy that a fellow Rotarian, Sandy Hollander, was the honoree.

Todd, I think, was happy for revenge when Kittatinny beat Lenape Valley in football.  A pastor happy for revenge??

John is looking forward to being present at the county high school band auditions.

Mark was happy that the senior member of his law firm was the honoree at the Bristol Glen Gala.

Our visitor, Kathleen, was extraordinary happy because she PASSED the NJ Bar Exam.

Tom thanked the committee that put together the BG Gala

Charles was happy he escaped a “taste testing” for his daughter’s wedding without a golf club wrapped around his neck.

Denise is happy that Clara and her aunt will be visiting.
Buzz was very happy for his phantom cruise.  He will be giving a program on the cruise once he gets all the pictures developed.

Dawn gave a happy dollar even though she is sad.  She requested that everyone skip drinking wine and give her the bottle for the basket she is putting together for the Farm to Table event.

Steve Komar, professor and agriculture and natural resources agent for Rutgers Cooperative Extension Service was our speaker.  He told us the Service has 3 divisions, agriculture, youth and health and wellness.  The agriculture division is not just for farmers.  Homeowners can have their soil tested and get help in diagnosing fungus and eradicating pests (be looking for the Spotted Lanternfly). Steve also discussed the changing agriculture scene in NJ.  For example, industrial hemp production is the fastest growing crop.  He is also happy to be involved in the Agribusiness scholars program.

Dawn won $8 but didn’t draw the ace so the pot continues to grow
