NEWTON ROTARY CLUB
MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 23, 2022
Our regular Wednesday meeting was opened at 12:15 by President Laura Camp. Prayer was led by Alden Welsh, with a song led by Steve Wescott. Today we had 17 of our members present, but no visitors. Greetings were offered by Bob Shankman.
Happy Dollars
President Laura broke the ice and offered up a one-dollar bill to recognize that she was happy to be feeling better and back at our regular meeting again.
A five-dollar bill was presented for the anniversary of Bob and Kathi Shankman.
Also, another five dollars was tendered by John Cuozzo in honor of the date yesterday - 2/22/22, and a Tuesday to boot!
Announcements
President Laura noted that she was going to have the Board meet at her house on Friday morning, but given the projected snow storm, the Board was asked to meet for 15 to 20 minutes at the end of the luncheon today.
Helen reported that we received a total of $750, from the County United Way from the Chili Open event.
Laura said that the Wallkill Valley Rotary Club will be holding the special luncheon tomorrow to conduct the demonstration of the use of Narcan that will result in attendees receiving a certification. Carl and Laura will be going to the event.be holding their 75th
The Denville Rotary Club will be holding their 75th Anniversary program in the near future.
Steve Wescott was glad to report that we are nearing our goal of raising $3,500 for the Rotary Foundation. There is less that $1,000 to go before we hit the magic number. You still have time to make a pledge or drop off a check with Steve who can handle the paperwork for recording your donation.
Celebrations
We sang Happy Birthday to Todd Lattig and Happy Anniversary to Bob and Kathi Shankman.
Program for Today
Our very own Alice Vigiletti gave a brief talk about her printing company, Best Way Printing, and the numerous services that she can offer you and your company to help with your promotion efforts. Alice apparently has been involved in this type of work for many years. She explained the different type of products she can help you develop, including anything from business cards, and envelopes and letterhead to promotional fliers, banners, tabletop displays, etc. Remember, the use of color and top quality design play a central roll in making sure your final product is not only exactly what you wanted but will be extremely effective as well.
50/50
Steve Wescott hit the weekly fund for a total of $5. But when he went and picked a card from the diminishing deck of cards – he left the slowing growing pot of $221.50 on the table.
The meeting was formally adjourned by President Laura at 1:22.
Respectfully submitted
