***Please note that the previous bulletin was sent in error. This weeks meeting is back at the Lafayette House!!!***
This Week, July 1
Bob Morgenstern will speak to us about insurance.
Last Week, June 24
Pres. Matt presided at his final meeting. A banner plus year it has been! Congratulations to “Past Pres.” Matt and the Board of Directors! Pres. Jerry was sitting in the wings with an anticipatory look, ready to launch.
The meeting was conducted at the Newton Medical Center (always a great meeting). Lunch was a gastrointestinal delight – cost $10. Proceeds went to the Newton Rotary Foundation. The Newton Medical Center chef and “wait” staff deserve recognition for making the lunch our “Wine and Roses” sans the wine.
Matt introduced Megan Sandow who shared with us an overview of the Newton Medical Center initiative '15 for Women, Year of Women's Health: Informing, Supporting & Empowering Women. Megan covered many of the appurtenances of the initiative which include the Center for Breast Health inclusive of DBT (Digital Breast Tomosynthesis) and One South Point Patient Unit. Also, happily (for this writer anyway) it was reported that the old style hospital gown (those with the front at the rear) are now obsolete as well as rear view exposure.
After Megan's presentation, Jim Furgeson shared a listing of future marketing events to help support financially the '15 for Women project.
Following Jim's overview, a video produced by Mirage Studios (Nancy Morrisey) was shown. The video, in which Nancy made a cameo appearance, artistically and creatively featured the updates and state of the art equipment available for patients at the Newton Medical Center.
Bob McCracken anchored the final segment of the program; i.e., the donation of $23,416.52 to the Newton Medical Center Foundation. The money is part of the Clubs five year $100,000 pledge to the Newton Medical Center Foundation. Bob noted over the years, Newton Rotary has donated $507,000 to the Foundation. Bob briefly highlighted the bond between Newton Rotary and the Newton Medical Center traversing backward in time to the donation of land to the Newton Memorial Hospital by the Condit family.
Bob then announced that this year's honorees at the Newton Rotary Golf Outing will be Pam and Carl Lazzaro.

Announcements
Many announcements and updates were made regarding the Garden Party; however, none are listed here since the Party will be recorded in history by the time this newsletter is read.
Matt reported the Board is currently reviewing luncheon costs, meeting location, et.al. A determination emanating from the ongoing study will be shared when completed.
Happy Dollars
Only a few this week.
Barbara Miller for attending the District Banner Exchange.
Tom Digby for 40 years with Newton Rotary and his years of affiliation with the Newton Medical Center (and the Newton Memorial Hospital).
Charles Grotyohann for his daughter Alissa. After hearing about her many feats on the field hockey field, a face was put to the verbal descriptions heretofore told. Alissa was one of the meeting's servers. Best of luck to her next year in her final year of hockey. Charles assured us he will provide us with game updates
50/50
There was no 50/50 this week. The pot remains intact for another week. Bring your dollars next week! “You got to be in it to win it.”
