President Elect Carl Lazzaro called the meeting to order at 12:20 and led us in the Pledge of Allegiance
and prayer.
Steve Wescott led us in America the Beautiful.
Announcements:
Carl announced that the fair sign up sheet has many openings and Steve said that members need to be called.
Laura had spoken with Nancy Morrisey and unfortunately learned that Nancy’s dad had passed. She also said that George Morville has COVID for the second time. She has been following Pam’s progression and regression. Unfortunately, Pam is in Morristown hospital.
Alice has Rotary shirts for sale.
Happy Dollars:
Matt Hannum is happy to be alive and vertical.
Marge McCabe gave four happy dollars because she is so good at her Rotary job.
John Cuozzo is happy that he saw a former student in a performance of Much Ado About Nothing.
Jim Taylor is happy to see Matt.
Carolyn Ottenbreit gave twenty dollars is happy to be home from Canada. After returning, she and Ken tested positive for COVID and quarantined at the lake, while the children stayed in the city.
Guests: Megan Sandow and Stephen Flynn were welcomed by Matt.
Program:
Megan discussed a few situations at Newton Medical Center. They are experiencing staffing problems and hiring graduates right out of school to fulfill the vacancies. There was approximately a 30% shortage, but has been reduced to approximately 18%. She also said that the hospital has fewer COVID patients.
Stephen said that the hospital has three different projects in the works along with a capital campaign.
1 There will be more rooms available for behavioral health.
2 The ICU is being renovated.
3 The maternity center is being renovated.
Megan and Stephen from Newton Medical Center (Atlantic Health System) were presented a check from the 2021 Golf Outing for $16891.84
50/50 Luis Ponce won a whopping $5.00.
