In Service

Last Week, Wednesday, March 28, 2018
Pres. John launched the meeting with the traditional striking of the Rotary bell.  Charles Grotyohann offered the beauty of prayer.  God Bless America resonated this day led by Steve Wescott.  The chorus followed in tonal ambiguity.

Bob Shankman treated the Club with his presentation, “Amazon and Becoming an Amazon Vendor – Everything You Need to Know.”  Bob took us through the history and growth of Amazon and gave an overview of the vastness of the company.  Bob highlighted the company both from the perspective of a buyer and a vendor explaining how to be a successful buyer or seller.  Bob enumerated many facts about Amazon depicting just how large a company it is; e.g., 2,000,000 vendors, revenues greater than all department stores combined, 314,000 USA jobs, 13,000 NJ jobs, etc.

It was an informative, lively presentation enjoyed by those in attendance for which Bob received the Rotary Wheel.  A great program by a great presenter – dilly, dilly.

Note:  Bob's practice presentation can be viewed on YouTube at https://youtu.beWMzgONQTIGc

DOES NEWTON ROTARY NEED A BRANDING AND MARKETING PLAN?

  • Is membership falling & aging?
  • Are we doing the same projects each year?
  • Are we spreading the word about our activities?
  • Are we planning for the next five; 10 and 25 years?
  • Do we have a rolling plan for addressing these questions?
  • Do we have any big new projects planned for the future?

I believe we can address these questions by setting up a planning committee to define our brand and then to market it.

This will aid member retention and acquisition and provide a path to the future for us

Begin by:
  1. Creating a mission statement (sample follows)
  2. Print and distribute it in local public locations
  3. Reprint it in local newspapers a few times per year
  4. Costs and Goals: $1,500 and 12 new members
