Guest Speaker: Mike Blake Certified Nutrition Coach and Personal Trainer
When Mike was a young boy he was diagnosed with Leegg-Calve-Perthes disease. He was 6 years old, immobilzed for 3 years, and in a cast for 22 months. His uncle, a West Point graduate, Vietnam Veteran, and surgeon predicted he would need hip relacements by 40 years old and never play contact sports. Blake did undergo surgery and contrary to the prediction, Blake did in fact play football and not have hip replacement.
He realized that he was overweight and in his twenties began going to the gym and working out. He didn't understand the need for balance between nutrition and exercise. As he said, "I was fat". He sought a trainer and he taught him that exercise was not enough.
There needs to be a balance between nutrition and exercise. The focus on balance, muscle mass, resistance training, and nutrition are key components to seeking a healthier body.
The program was very informational and interactive.
