Newton, New Jersey December 2, 2020 Carolyn Ottenbreit, Editor
This Week (December 2): Dan Hayek of Hayek’s Market will talk about the history and current structure of this business which has been part of our community since 1939.
Next Meeting, December 16th: Jean Cable will give us an update from ThorLabs’ world headquarters in Newton.
November 18th: Carl Lazzaro remembered Paul Cummins, a member of Newton Rotary since 1962. Paul was active in the Rotary youth exchange program and often sat at the “Bankers’ table”. A small graveside service was held on November 19th and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Dan Sforza, Executive Editor of the NJ Herald, talked about the evolution of and consolidation in the newspaper industry. The result of several mergers is that the NJ Herald is now under common ownership with the Bergen Record and the Morristown Daily Record, which is why you see less purely Sussex County news. Current circulation is holding steady at 7,000-8,000 subscriptions.
