Announcements:

  • The End Hunger Project has directed an additional 20 boxes of dry food to Newton Rotary, in addition to the 62 boxes made available last spring.  Once again, the Sussex County Hunger Coalition will pick-up the boxes at the distribution point in Madison, NJ, and bring them to their warehouse in Franklin, where the food will be distributed as needed to Sussex County Food pantries.  Each box provides 200 meals, so the project has provided 16,000 meals to Sussex County residents in need.
  • October 24th is End polio Day
  • Wednesday, October21st, we are planning a joint meeting with the Rotary Club of Colombo, Sri Lanka.  The Colombo Club is the local Club involved in our Global Grant to provide pediatric heart surgeries in Sri Lanka in conjunction with Gift of Life.
We will have a Zoom call at 10:00 AM to accommodate the time difference.
  • Our Rotary District 7475 Public image Committee has requested information on Club projects related to Education and Literacy.  Kurt Walton has submitted the Dictionary Project – including the videos which he prepared of Club members at our lunch meetings introducing the Club and sending suggestions of new words to look up to our 3rd grade classes.
  • Progress continues at the Food Booth!  Dave Wright has had his landscaping team in to repair the pavers dislodged by the tree removal, replace the low wall on the west side of the booth, and plant trees and flowers.  We look forward to seeing the work when we meet at the booth on September 30th.
  • The Hillsborough Rotary Club is hosting an online magic show fundraiser this Thursday, October 1st, at 7:00 PM.  You can buy tickets at www.rotarymagic.com .
