The meeting was called to order by President Todd Lattig at 12.14 PM, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer offered by Alden Welch. All then joined in with a hardy rendition of “God Bless America,” led by John Cuozzo.  The head table was full with President Todd, V.P. Carl, Alice and Secretary Marge. This week’s meeting attracted 16 members. There were no visitors so Carolyn welcomed all members present.

Todd announced today was our regular monthly in-service meeting.  There was no special speaker scheduled for today.

Several members were HAPPY at today’s meeting and gladly parted with a few dollars…..
  • Denise ponied up $10 and told us the story of when she traveled to France for a wedding and all the friends she made and the resulting adventures she experienced.
  • John C. donated $2 with a brief tale about his son.
  • Barbara handed in a buck and told us about her trip to New Hampshire to visit a friend.
  • $2 from Bud Luthman – noting that it was not an earthquake we felt recently, but rather Carl Lazzaro who took a fall down some stairs.
  • Todd put a dollar in the pot and said that he was very joyful for having officiated at the wedding this past week for our lovely waitress, Megan.
  • Carolyn handed in $2 and then told us about a Unicef project being undertaken by our sister club in Sri Lanka, titled: Humanitarian Action for Children.  Unicef is trying to raise $25.3 million to cover 984,300 children and caregivers who are in dire need of going through an assessment program to check on mental health and psychosocial support issues.  Carolyn passed around several copies of the information sheets that detailed the program.
  • Buz passed in $2 and told us about the bike trip he will be taking to raise money for multiple sclerosis research.  Buz noted that if he reaches the $1,000 level of donations this year – he will get a free chicken dinner.  So, let us help our friend raise some money through your donations and we can therefore help Biz find a good semi-home cooked meal.  Checks should be made out to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and mail it to him at his home address:     50 Newton Avenue,   Branchville, NJ   07826

Our own Buz Tomasino, all decked out with his bike and obviously very ready to get the bike trip underway.
Once again, Carl provided us with a brief review of the Fair Food Booth operation for the balance of this year.  More details to follow about the other two events we will have the food booth open for:  the Military Show Swap on October 21-23 and the German Christmas Market, December 2-4.  There may be only one other food vendor at either of these events – which would obviously put us in a very good position to make a lot of money for the club.  The events in Friday and Saturday will run 10 AM to 6 or 7 PM, while on Sunday it will run 10AM to 1 PM.

Since today was an in-service meeting, we celebrated birthdays – beginning in January of this year up to date:  Barbara, Buz, John and Alice and 3 other members who stepped up too fast for this reporter to get the names.  Lou, Todd and Wayne and Marge all celebrated their anniversaries.

Buz is back in the news as he once again won the 50/50 pot of $6 !!   He drew the Queen of Spades and thus left $77 in the pot for next week.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:15 PM by President Todd.

Here, Buz is seen collecting his ill-gotten gain of $6 for the 50/50 drawing.  President Todd is seen in the background.
