Next Week 5/4/2016 :  In Service

Last Week 4/27/2016:   John Roberts remembered our fellow Newton Rotarian, Sylvester Fletcher, who passed away on Sunday.  A card was circulated for his widow, Catherine.  Mary Emilius discussed the Open World Leadership Center, a program of the US Congress, which invites citizens of the former Soviet Union countries to visit the United States and learn about democratic and business practices in the USA.  The current team is in the United States to learn about agriculture.  Each of the Ukrainian participants spoke briefly, through an interpreter, about his or her work back home and their impressions of America.  In addition, Jason Schlaffer, founder of Exervolve, spoke about his approach to fitness and the services offered by his firm.

Guests:  Mary Emilius (President of Branchville Rotary), Ellie Benz (Branchville Rotary), Diane Sarao (former member of Newton Rotary), and our Ukrainian guests:  Michael, Uri, Natalie and Alexander.

Happy Dollars:
  • Barbara Miller had a wonderful time at the Rotary Conference held at Crystal Springs.  She is grateful to Alden Welch, who presided at the Service of Remembrance.
  • Denise Current gave a very nice thank you to all the Host Families that stepped up and took our Brazilian Guests under their wing.  She especially enjoyed the wonderful Potluck dinner she hosted with all host families of the Brazilian guests.  There was great food, company and drinks.
  • Dottie was happy to share with everyone her beautiful Ukrainian plate that she brought from home to honor our Ukrainian guests
  • Tom Brodhecker was happy to have the Open World group visit his farm.
  • Denise Current thanked Mary Emilius, President of Branchville Rotary, for bringing our Ukraine guests and organizing such a program for our area.
  • Jerry Hanifan was happy to report that Fredon Township was named top town in the Star Ledger
  • Carl Lazzaro was happy to announce that while the bratwurst served at lunch today is good, our fair booth bratwurst is much better.  He reminded all to volunteer for booth duty at the fair.
  • Our Ukrainian guests thanked us for being good people and they are very happy to be here.
Picture Fines:  Chris Wolverton was honored as new partner at Houghton, Quarty, Warr Architects.  CONGRATULATION Chris!!
