Program:
Joan Smith, President of the NJ State Fair and Sussex County Farm and Horse Show discussed the history, present and future of the fair.
The horse and agriculture components of the fair came together in 1940. It is an annual event that was only interrupted with World War 2, a hurricane, and the pandemic.
Fortunately, it has survived the pandemic and is focusing on strengthening ties with local organizations. Proms, dances, and Trunk or Treat events have used the facility. The Ag food booth has been newly renovated. The carnival is offering a sensory free morning. The Garden State Marketplace will feature artisans from New Jersey and value added products. The Blue Star Garden was created by the NJDOT and NJ garden clubs. It is a memorial for veterans.
Future plans include capital improvements of the grounds.
Adult admission fees have been raised $1.00 for in person at the gate admission.
50/50 Helen Wescott won a whopping $5.00.
$47.00 remains in the pot.
Meeting adjourned at 1:15.
