Announcements:
We are proceeding with the Gift of Life Global Grant to Sri Lanka. Newton Rotary will be the International partner and will team with Sri Lanka Rotary , Sri Lanka Gift of Life , and a private hospital in Sri Lanka to provide 50 heart surgeries, at $2,000/each to children 1-5 years old who would otherwise die while on the wait list for surgery at the government hospital. The total budget for the project is $100,000, of which Newton Rotary will contribute $5,000. We have already raised this amount through the annual Volleyball tournaments.
There will be an “Eat, Drink and Share” at the Bridgewater Manor on November 11th (Veterans’ Day). We are making the Club’s annual $1,000 contribution to the Rotary Foundation in the form of a sponsorship for the event. We receive credit for the entire $1,000 donation from the Rotary Foundation.
As a reminder, we will meet at Denise’s Barn for dinner and to pack bags for the homeless on the Monday of Thanksgiving week, November 25th. We will not meet the day before Thanksgiving.
Please save the date for the Presidents’ Ball, to benefit Polio Plus, on Saturday, February 22nd, at the Somerville elks Club. It would be great to organize a table for the event.
