This is going to be fun. After taking copious notes, I left them at the Diner. I did go back to retrieve them but they had already made it to the slop bucket. I promise this will be the last time I sign up to be the editor.
President Carolyn, with a gentle tap of the bell opened our meeting. Because there were no legitimate clergy present, a minister's son was called into action to say the pray. Steve, starting on the correct octave, led us in song.
We had two guest present. Katie Hannam had her husband Bill as a guest (who paid for the lunches?). Bill has begun a program to become a Delta Airline pilot. Sean a representative of United Way was the guest of James Konzel . Sean expressed his thanks to Rotary for its continually support. Rob Reiner welcomed our guests.
Now it is going to get a little sketchy. If I forgot your happy dollar, just give another one next week so that it can be properly recorded. Charles is happy because "THE EVENT" is only 131 days away. Tom expressed his appreciation for Bob Shankman's attitude. Singing is better than crying. James is happy his daughter took sixth place in a ninja competition. John Frank gave both a happy and a sad dollar. He is happy his granddaughter will be spending a semester in Rome. He is sad because his granddaughter will be spending a semester in Rome
Because this is an in-service meeting it was time to celebrate January birthdays and anniversaries. Bill Kehoe celebrated his birthday. He was born by candlelight in a log cabin. Todd celebrated his 20th and Pam celebrated her 30+ anniversary. Carl intentionally showed up late to save a buck but next week it will be $5. At this point President Carolyn made the first mistake of her tenure. Steve had to remind her we traditionally sing happy birthday/anniversary.
Jim Porter was happy to report the Super Bowl fund raiser netted $34,000, the most on record. James reminded us that the Chili Open is just around the corner. If you can help, please contact him. President Carolyn announced, in order to avoid the snow hex, the Pancake Breakfast will be held later in the year. The date has been set for May 2. Now I must commend our Club. We had a discussion about the location of the Garden Party. There were no threats, no name calling and we took action. Congress is our model. We are going to give having the Garden Party at the Walpack Inn a one year try. It will be held in June as usual.
At this time President Carolyn made a unforgiveable mistake. She rung the bell to adjourn the meeting. The 50/50 had not been drawn. Therefore, she unrung the bell and a winner was announced. Maybe the excitement overtook me causing meeting notes to be left behind. The ace is still on the table
