Announcements:
Newton Rotary had an excellent turn out this week at our new home base, The Spring Street Pub and Grill in Newton.   Food, service, smiles, ambiance was all great!

Laura Camp gave a lovely prayer and we all sang God Bless America.

Jerry thanked Charles for standing in for him and for being very proactive and enthusiastic in the club interests.

Chili Open was a success.

Volley Ball coming up on March 18th.  We need the signups handed in.  Games start at 6PM.

Pancake Breakfast- John needs help sending out emails to prior placemat ads.  Barbara is heading up the Bake Sale.

Rotary Longevity Pins were awarded to:
          Dewey Budd for 60 years
          Sylvester Fletcher for 40 years
          Carl Luthman for 20 years
          John Cuozzo for 10 years
          John Roberts for 5 years
          Dan Leary for 5 years.

Rotary District 7470 conference is coming up on April 21st thru the 24th at Crystal Springs.  Details were distributed.  Come for all or some of the events.  We are looking for foursomes for golf.  How convenient-this is practically in our back yard!

Three members were inducted.  Steve Wescott delivered a most eloquent induction and Jerry recited the four way test.
  • Dr. John Connally, President of Sussex County Community College sponsored by Barbara Wortmann
  • Jim Ferguson, Community Relations in Newton Memorial Hospital, sponsored by Jerry Nechamkin and introduced by Megan Sandow.
  • Jerry Murphy is the present Newton Town Manager and he was a Marine; sponsored by Carl Lazzaro.
PROGRAM:
Speaker was Arthur Strock who wrote the book “Live By Your Dreams”.  While he has a PHD, he says he’s not “one of THOSE guys”…lol, and a member of the Foundation for the study of Dreams.  He enlightened us on dream interpretation.  Dreams are non-ending, only a continuation from when you are awake to when you are sleeping.  Dream themes that are people based, building cars, etc., are all symbols.  Music has a message when you wake up with a song.

Happy Dollars $ generously given by:

  • John Iliff, his daughter doing well in wrestling tournament.
  • Helen Moch, daughter has new job working for Disney.
  • Tom- Happy Groundhog is predicting an early spring and the upcoming Springfest.
  • Barbara happy for new meeting location and for Dr. Connolly’s induction to Rotary today.
  • Matt, sorry he missed Chili Open.  His wife tripped on kids toys and broke her foot and he forgot to pay the parking meter.  Hoping Carl will pay his fine if he gets a ticket.
  • Mark Hontz and several others.
  • Jerry is happy to be back for the meeting, and happy he’s going back to Florida.

50/50:
Won today by Dotty Budd.  Pot still grows.
