Program:
Bud and Cathy Liptak, who breed and raise Seeing Eye dogs. They breed mainly Golden Retreiver/Labrador mixed dogs. They work out of the Seeing Eye Dog campus in Morristown, and they brought 11-month old Golden Retriever/Labrador mix Tessa, who they are currently raising/training.. Bud gave us a history of Seeing Eye Dogs. The program was started in Nashville, Tennessee and moved to Whippany in 1931. They eventually bought property in Morristown where they are now located, along with other locations in Chester, Mendham, etc. They spent the time discussing how the dogs are trained, length of the dog’s career, and things that tainers look for in the dogs in order for them to successfully complete the program. If they are not able to complete it, for whatever reason, the trainers get first choice in adoption, before they look at other avenues such as police departments, Homeland Security, and general adoption.
Other Important Information:
A donation was made in honor of the Liptaks to Manna House.
Dawn Hall won the 50/50 in the amount of $8. She did not pull the Ace of Spades. There is $51 in currently in the pot.
