HAPPY ST. PAT'S DAY

AN IRISH BLESSING

May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine on your windowpane.
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you.
May life fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

NO MEETINGS SCHEDULED THROUGH  APRIL 1 (STAY TUNED)

This Week, Wednesday, March 18, 2020
Our program would have featured Marvin Jobs of the Census Bureau; Topic:  Guess!

Did you know that March 18, 2020, is National Awkward Moments Day – I hope you do not have cause to celebrate.

Reminder:  “The Ides of March are Upon us.”  By the time you received this newsletter, the Ides will most likely have passed, hopefully uneventfully.  However, if you encountered a gaggle of men sporting white togas – such is not a good sighting on this date.

Last Week, Wednesday, March 11, 2020
On this date in Newton Rotary history, understudy Jim Taylor performed the role of President. Conspicuously absent were handshakes; elbow bumps were the new handshakes although no elbows were seen bumping.

The crowd was sparse but vociferous.

Jim led us in the pledge.  John Iliff offered the prayer – the favorite Irish blessing of former member, Joe Quinn.  John Cuozzo led us in blissful harmony.

Polly Quiles of Family Promise of Sussex County was our program.  Family Promise of Sussex County provides services to assist families and single individuals as they work toward housing stability and self-sufficiency.  The mission of Family Promise is to empower families from homelessness to sustainable independence.  Polly highlighted the myriad of services Family Promise provides for our county's homeless and at risk households in the county.  A question/answer/discussion period followed the presentation focused on the homeless in Sussex County.

Guests
Only us.

Happy Dollars
The editor is happy that there were few happy dollars on this date, but he did not give a happy dollar for his happiness as his happiness was an after thought.

Bill Kehoe gave a happy dollar for the return of Frank Eberhart; when Jim informed Bill that Frank was still in NC, Bill gave a “true” happy dollar.

John Cuozzo gave a happy dollar for the Tri Music Association recital and induction.

The editor gave a happy dollar for a photo of Andy Iliff being named “Educator of the Year” at Newton High School.  The editor was happy to give the photo to John Iliff so that he could reach into his wallet and multiply 5xs the editor's one measly dollar.

 50/50
John Roberts was all smiles, winning the staggering amount of $6.  The Ace of Spades did not show its shadow on this date and the pot grows, albeit, slowly.

Concluding with an Irish Blessing:

“May you live to be 100 years with one extra year to repent.”
