Happy $:

  • Carolyn is happy that all three of her kids will be going back to school in September!
  • Tom Digby is happy that his son, Gordon, in New Orleans, survived the storm.  Gordon was also there for Katrina.
  • Tom Digby is proud of Newton Hospital.  Many people don’t know that prior to the merger with Atlantic Health, client satisfaction and patient outcome scores at Newton exceeded the Morristown hospital.

Announcements:

  • Volunteers met at 8:30 AM on Sunday at the Food Booth to do a deep clean.  Come to our meeting this week to see the fine result!
  • Laura has moved the Rotary history/memorabilia files from Bob Shankman’s home to her own home.
  • We received a thank you card from the Kittatinny Scholarship recipient, Emily Pereira.
  • Helen announced that the paperwork is complete to reschedule the Rotary quilt drawing to Saturday of the Fair in 2021.
  • Steve Wescott, our Foundation Chair, remembered Tom Brodhecker.  He recently visited with Tom’s wife, Jane, who misses him terribly.  In addition to being a longtime active member of the Newton Rotary Club, Tom was also one of 4 major donors in the Newton Club.  Steve recognized Carl Lazzaro, another major donor, for having reached level 6.  President Jim was recognized for reaching level 3 (Paul Harris +2).
  • Steve also recognized Pam Lazzaro for her many years of service as the Club’s Secretary.  She is stepping down this year.
  • Africa has been declared Polio Free!  There are now only two countries in the work with wild Poliovirus. This is what our Foundation dollars help to accomplish.
  • Carl Lazzaro installed our new officers.  They are:  Jim Taylor (President), Laura Camp (President-Elect), Dawn Hall (Secretary), Helen Wescott (Treasurer), Chris Wolverton, Kurt Walton, Todd Lattig, and Carolyn Ottenbreit (Past President).
  • Perfect attendance awards were presented to: Barbara Miller, Carl Lazzaro, Bill Kehoe, Dawn Hall, Laura Camp, Carolyn Ottenbreit, and Jim Taylor.
