This week is a return home to the casa of the Spring Street Pub & Grill. Lisa Firkser of CASA will be our speaker. CASA is an acronym for Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children.
Last Week, June 1, 2016
Pres. “Jim” (aka Jerry) called the meeting to order. Mark Hontz offered a theme oriented invocation. In a combination of prestissimo and adagio and some yet to be determined musical tempos, “God Bless America” was uniquely performed. Once again, Carnegie Hall beckons. Frank Eberhart triumphantly led the processional to the buffet.
A change of venue! The Newton Country Club housed the annual scholarship program. Scholarship Chair “Tom” (aka George Kaiser) presided. Sir Edward Elgar would have been proud. It was a day when pomp and circumstance reigned. Scholarship Chairs introduced recipients; i.e., John Cuozzo – NHS; Barbara Miller – KRHS; Carl Lazzaro – Sussex Technical School. Family members, guests and friends were in attendance to witness the bestowal of scholarships.
Newton Rotary performs many wonderful services for our community. The scholarship program is certainly one of them. Congratulations to George, John, Barbara, Carl and committee members for their roles in bringing the scholarship program to successful fruition.

- Denise Current who attended the graduation of her granddaughter from Blair Academy.
- Buz Tomasino who presented the Club with a check for $1,000. The money was given to the Club for the use of the Booth at the recent Horse Show.
50/50
The pot grows; not quite a mega million yet. Pam Lazzaro won the 50/50 but the Ace remains sequestered.
