Call to Order:  President Laura called the meeting to order at 12:15. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Todd Lattig led us in prayer, and Barbara Miller led the singing of America the Beautiful.

Introduction of Guests:  There were no guests present; however, all Rotarians and our speakers were welcomed by Alice Vigiletti.

Happy Dollars:  Jim Taylor gave a happy $5 in honor of his daughter’s wedding the previous weekend.  Todd Lattig gave $5 and offered prayers and honor to the memory of Patricia Weber.  Jerry Hanifan (admittedly a bit cheap) gave a happy dollar in memory of the Webers and in honor of his 58th wedding anniversary.  John Cuozzo gave a happy $5 in honor of the speakers from the CBD store and their news of identical twins that will join their family soon.

Homeless Project:  Denise announced that we will be partnering with PSS this year for the project.  However, we are in need of donations each week so that we can “pack the backpacks and duffel bags”.  Schedule of donations is as follows:  October 13:  SOCKS   October 20:  TOOTHBRUSH/TOOTHPASTE.  Please bring these items to any meeting that you are attending!

Program:  Todd introduced the program for the day, the owners of CBD Newton, a relatively new store on Spring St. in Newton.  It is owned by Stephanie Walsh -Simpson and Patrick Simpson, and they were joined by employee Billy Kearns.  They spoke about the use of CBD in its various forms (oil, gummies, topical creams, and tablets) and responded to lots of questions about cost, interaction with prescription drugs, effect on liver enzymes, and licensing in the state of NJ.  It was a most interesting presentation and conversation continued well after the meeting ended!

50/50:  John Frank won $7 but left the remainder of the pot to continue growing.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:30 p.m.
