Pres. Charles and the Board launched something new – a refreshing approach to the meeting structure. In lieu of a noon luncheon with program, a social hour was held, sans program. Those attending gave a “thumbs up” to the experiment. The plan is for a social hour to replace the regular 12:15 p.m. meeting on the last Wednesday of each month. Next social hour meeting – Wednesday, September 28, 2016, 5 p.m. at Plates.

Denise Current introduced our new exchange student, Beem, who hails from Thailand. Beem is living with the Currents.
Barbara Wortmann reminded everyone of the upcoming gala, “Dancing with the Stars,” sponsored by the Arts & Heritage Council. Newton Rotary's Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly (Carl Lazzaro and John Connolly) will be dancing (not together).
Alice Vigiletti won the Power Ball 50/50 – $7. Alice left an equal amount in the cumulative pot for someone else to enjoy at a later date.
