Editor: Alice Vigiletti

This Week:  Margit Turul will present the Welcome Home Wish List project.

Last Week:  Charles Grotyohann, our new club president for 2016-2017, opened the meeting with prayer and a rousing God Bless America. Charles noted that Johnny "Casino" Roberts is the new President-elect responsible for programs, and that he sports a new “VP” pin.
Randy Parks, Chaplain of NMC, spoke on Advanced Care Planning for Healthcare.  Randy works closely with doctors and nurses and is aware of the need for advanced care planning, which includes both advanced directives and long term care insurance. Why plan ahead? Peace of mind for yourself and family. Appoint one spokesperson to speak for you if the need arises. Charles G. spoke briefly about long term care insurance (which is not covered by Medicare).

Guests:  Denise Current’s granddaughter, Clarisse, and John Powers.  Jerry Nechamkin welcomed our guests and thanked them for bringing the sunshine.

Announcements:   Please remember to sign up for two shifts at the Newton Rotary Food Booth at the SC State Fair - August 5 - 14.  The 49th Annual Golf Outing at Newton Country Club is planned for Sept. 14th - it supports the Newton Medical Center. Carolyn Ottenbreit is to be honored. Committee members are needed.  The 25th Anniversary of the Festival of Lights is November 12, 2016.  Our regular meeting on July 27th will be at Newton Medical Center at 12 noon.

Happy Dollars:
  • Tom Digby is glad not to be in Las Vegas because it is 107 degrees there right now. His son is organizing a party for 500 military personnel in Las Vegas.
  • Jerry Nechamkin is happy to be having a hot lunch for a change.
  • John Frank is happy that Frank Eberhart is in Las Vegas right now, where it is 107 degrees – and he's glad he's there.
  • Mark Hontz is happy the Blue Grass Festival fundraiser in Chester is coming up this Saturday 10-6PM. The Hontz family will be playing at noon.
  • Matt Hannum is happy that his young daughter has lost a front tooth that was stubbornly hanging on.
  • Carolyn Ottenbreit happy to have the house to herself while the family is away (even her husband went to hockey camp)
Picture Fines:  Picture fine to Charles G. for photo in last newsletter of him as 17 year old. His mother had given the photo to the yard sale last year and it was rescued by Denise Current.

50/50:  Pam Lazzaro won the 50/50, but left the pot to grow.
