Newton, New Jersey          October 06, 2021            Alice Vigiletti, Editor

Rotary Meeting opened on time at 12:15 by President Laura Camp
who lead us in the pledge of allegiance, thoughtful prayer by Todd Lattig
and an outstanding version of God Bless America which surprised
all by how good it sounded.

Guests for today were welcomed by John Iliff. They were Bob Shankman's
wife Kathie and Cindy Allen visiting from the Branchville Rotary.

Happy $$
John Iliff gave a generous one, many reasons to be happy...#1 because he was back to a meeting, planting and yard work done, two grandchildren born
and a great-great-granddaughter. He and his wife Terry survived Covid and other items
too numerous to list...
Laura Camp was happy she got a flu shot and third Pfizer shot and a visit to her daughter.

Food Booth Report - Carl Lazzaro
We made good money at the Fair...even with a new freezer purchase.
He thanked all who came out to work this last weekend at the
Military Vehicle Swap and Meet. We were the only food vendor for the event.

***Carl noted he needs help cleaning the food booth for the winter. Call him to participate.

Items for Pack the Bags - Denise said we need to bring in SOCKS (any size) to next weeks
Rotary meeting.

Dictionary Project - Alice Vigiletti - There are 180 Students in the 3rd grade in our area this year whom we will be giving dictionaries.

Newton Rotary's 100th Anniversary is coming up! Plans are in the works.

New!  Vocation Talks -  Your opportunity to speak briefly about what you do or did for a living.
Share an interesting story of experience or lesson learned.
First up was Gerald "Judge" Hanifan.  He notices people's facial expressions, esp. the eyes, whether they are paying attention, honest or not. He shared a story of a man taken down by two policemen.
When they got to court, he brought in Muhamad Ali as a testimony to his honesty...he won the decision.
The man went on to become a policeman.
Judge says if you can get the truth, you get the truth!
He noted that Juries are important, Civils are settled.
The judge got the Supreme Court because he got things done.
***Coming up later this month - Steve Wescott***
