It is unnecessary to state what time the meeting was opened. Only once has President Alice opened the meetings later than 12:15 and that was by 10 seconds.
Wayne led us in prayer.
Kathie not only led us in song but sang a solo which garnered a rousing applause.
Our one guest was Matthew Hanifan. Matt is home for his final spring break as he will be graduating in May. Laura welcomed our guest and her fellow Rotarians.
Happy dollars and one sad dollar.
John Hannum is happy to be able to attend a meeting.
John Frank had two happy dollars. One was for Kathie's solo and the other made no sense. I believe it was a senior moment.
John C. was happy that he was able to attend a conference at SCCC where 1,500 students were in attendance.
Finally, some people not named John were also happy.
Mike Hanifan gave a happy dollar for Bob Brady. Bob's daughter is home for spring break.
Laura had a happy dollar because she got to visit with family in NC particularly her new great grandson, Then she had a sad dollar. Because she does not want to be president of our club for a third time (haha), she has put her house on the market and will be moving to NC.
Denise gave two happy dollara because she received two $100 sponsor checks for our 100th anniversary gala.
President Alice led us in reciting the Four Way Test. She then made some announcements, Next week will be an in-service meeting. So far, we have sold 21 fifty/fifty tickets. There are more available. The club receives 50% for each ticket sold. The Club received $500 from the German Christmas Market for the use of our booth.
Our speakers, Ellen Griffiths and Wendy Buccino, were from the Election Board. There are approximately 120,000 registered voters in Sussex County. Typically, 10% vote in primaries and 60% in general elections. Because it is a presidential election year, the Board will be busy. The County has state-of-the-art voting equipment and the system is secure. There is a trend to increased early voting and voting by mail.
Jerry Hanifan won $3 but did not draw the ace of spades so the pot grows.
Alice closed the meeting at 1:12 pm
