Next Week: Newton Rotary Golf Outing at the Newton Country Club.
Last Week: Faye Simon Harac, Founder and President of the IES Brain Research Foundation, talked about the challenge of funding critical research into diseases of the brain - including Alzheimer’s, ALS, cancer, and many others. The IES Brain Research Foundation encourages young researchers to enter the field by funding Student Fellowships. The organization is planning the “2016 Endorphin 5k or 2k Run or Walk” at Wild West City on September 24th, 2016. For details see www.iesBrainResearch.org.
Guests: Ken Meredith (Wallkill Valley Rotary and past District Governor) and Ellie Benz (Branchville Rotary, Past-President and ADG).
Happy Dollars:
Frank Eberhart is happy to present a banner from the Rotary club he frequently visits in North Carolina.
Denise Current is happy that our exchange student, Beem, has arrived and is rapidly making friends.
Ellie Benz is happy to attend a Newton Rotary meeting in Newton!
Barbara Miller is happy to have Ken Meredith with us today, and enjoyed hosting Beem for lunch on Labor Day.
David Adamsbaum is happy to have a new watch. He was also happy to notice a Rotary advertisement in his favorite movie, “Back to the Future” recently.
John Frank is happy to have Frank Eberhart and George Kaiser back with us. He is also happy that Fred Seplow will be inducted into the Newton High School Hall of Fame. Of 57 inductees, 13 are current or former Newton Rotarians! Since Fred can join us for lunch only infrequently, John suggested dropping Fred Seplow a note to congratulate him and say hello. His address is: 1 Sunset Terrace, Newton, NJ 07860.
Carl Lazzaro gave a sad dollar to report that he had attended the funeral of Clark Hendershot and retired his badge. Clark was a member of Newton Rotary for 63 years. Please remember Clark and his family in your prayers.
John Roberts is happy that the football team he coaches defeated perennial powerhouse Newburgh in their first game of the season.
Picture Fines: None
