No Meeting Happy Thanksgiving!

Last Meeting: 10/29/2015
Guest speaker was Glenn Chelliah of the Netcong-Stanhope Rotary Club.  He is working on a project to bring solar panels to the poorest of those in Sri Lanka, living in huts/shacks.  One solar panel on the huts roof provides 4-6 hours of light so the family can do chores or read at night.  The sun shines there from 6AM to 6PM making it ideal for solar applications.  Glenn needs to collect $20,000 in funds to get a matching amount from Rotary.  He already has $15,000, mostly from other clubs.  Technical personnel from large corporations like Sony and others help install and maintain them.  He is looking to manufacture the solar panels in the Technical Institute someday.  Glenn is a one year Rotary member and travels in his retirement to work with children.  BRAVO GLENN!

Happy Dollars$:
Many Happy Dollars from Jerry, Jan, Denise were given for the wonderful evening at the President’s Ball last Friday night.

Jerry was honored at the event with a white rose boutonniere to distinguish him as a Club President plus the recognition of being introduced in front of all attendees.  Much whooping and napkin waving by each club as they were recognized one by one.  Delicious hors d’oeuvres and open bar were enjoyed.  I practically didn’t have room for the dinner!  We won’t go into too much detail but ALL members got up to dance and have a good time!  Plus!  Denise received a beautiful Rotary scarf for the honor of being the first one to sign up for the ball (she was surprised).

Other happy dollars by Matt for his young daughter’s recovery for 32 stitches received after a fall…OUCH!
Dewey - 75th School Reunion-12 in attendance (amazing!)

Jerry for John’s eloquent write up of last week’s Newtonian and use of words we need to look up…Panoply??  Means splendid or impressive (Hopefully I can do this newsletter justice without the $5 dollar words…lol)

50/50:  $11 was won by Kevin. $78 left in the pot.

THE COMMITTEES LIST IS COMPLETE.  The committees should be meeting to discuss their activities.
