SCHOOL'S OPEN!

Finish the jingle:  “School bells ring and children sing _ _ _ _ _ _.”  This trivia question is definitely decade specific.

This Week, Wednesday, September 12, 2018

The 51st Annual Golf Outing.  Play a round, stop in for lunch, volunteer, attend the dinner.  Volunteers are needed on this date.  Contact Matt or Charles.  It's a great event.  So far, 96 golfers are participating.

Last Week, Wednesday, September 5, 2018

Following the weekly gustatory interlude, Pres. Bill pulled off a “triple play.”  Bill called the meeting to order, offered the prayer and, “living on the edge” led the group in song.  The group followed in a soft, pulsating vibrato of sound.

It was In-Service on this date.  Pres. Bill distributed the Club's goals for 2018-2019.  Bill reviewed and highlighted the goals for the membership.  Many ideas and suggestions germinated during the discussion/review session.  It was, indeed, a fruitful session.

Happy Dollars

A synthesis of Happy Dollars on this date follows.  Happy, Happy were:

•        Laura Camp for seeing Pam “who looks and sounds good.”  Pam will be returning soon.

•        John Cuozzo for the start of school and for the happiness this day brings to so many parents.

•        Tom Brodhecker for Pres. Bill's “triple play” and for the positive health news received by the Sinclair family.

•        Kurt Walton for the induction of Mark Hontz and brother, Jack, into the Newton Hall of Fame.

•        Carolyn Ottenbreit for the beginning of the school year for her daughters and exchange student.

•        Matt Hannum for the start of the school year and for the care his daughter received re:  a broken arm.  “A purple cast does help a little!”

•        Pres. Bill for the football victories witnessed by his children at Penn State, Michigan State and Virginia Tech and for (bless you) Notre Dame's victory over Michigan.

•        Buzz Tomasino for RU's 38-7 victory (which was to be expected) and for the 4H trip to a Jets game on October 14.  Anyone interested in attending the game, contact Buzz.

•        John Frank for announcing the return of Frank Eberhart.  However, John was not certain if this was a happy or sad dollar.

•        Bob Shankman, then, gave an emergency happy dollar, performing a genuine act of kindness above and beyond the call of Rotary, by moving to the table where Carl sat alone.  It was observed that by the end of the meeting Bob had, quietly and undetected, moved back to his original table.

 50/50

Lonnie Nechamkin was the lucky winner of a small fortune – $10.  Alas, the ace of spades remains ensconced in the card protection program for at least another week.
