NEWTON ROTARY CLUB
MINUTES OF DECEMBER 7, 2022

IN THE BEGINNING….

Our regular Wednesday meeting was opened exactly at 12:15 PM with President Todd Lattig presiding this afternoon.  A prayer was offered by Marge McCabe, followed by a patriotic song (first stanza of the Battle Hymn of the Republic) led by John Cuozzo.  Today we had a total of 26

of our members and visitors present (not counting the members of the High Point Regional High School Chamber Singers and their support folks).  Past President Carl Lazzaro extended an unusually warm welcome (for him) to the students and our other guests.

VISITORS TODAY INCLUDED:  Sally Tomasino, Elaine Eberhart, Dody Welch, Judy Wilson, and Maureen Hanifan.

HAPPY DOLLARS

Jim Taylor - began with a $5 contribution – expressing his gratefulness for the support and best wishes he received recently while he was having a fight with his kidneys.  It seems that after a considerable amount of medical cajoling and threats of retaliation on his part, Jim’s kidneys fell back in line and apparently are working at full tilt again.  We are all glad to learn that he is feeling much better now.
Laura Camp - handed in a dollar.  Apparently, Laura is leaving in a few days to go down to North Carolina to be with her kids.  She will be away through both Christmas and New Year’s Eve.  Laura – enjoy yourself and have a great time with your family.
John Cuozzo - ponied up a buck – stating that he was very happy to have the Chamber Singers from High Point High School here today.
Steve Wescott – donated a dollar for having gone to some sort of function by invitation extended to him by Frank Eberhart (this reporter didn’t quite get exactly what that function was, so Steve might wish to expound on that next week).
Bud Luthman – gave a dollar for the fact that Jonathan Tallamy, Principal of High Point Regional High School had come along with the students and staff in support of these great young people.  Jon – thank you for joining us today.
Buz Tomasino – added a dollar from his wallet, and provided everyone present that he was very hopeful that the Rutgers basketball team would prevail over the Ohio State Buckeyes on January 15.  However, between now and then, the Rutgers squad has to play 8 other teams.  I guess we will see what the outcome will be in over the next few weeks.
Todd Lattig – added $2 to the pot and said that he was also very happy to have the Chamber Singers from High Point High School here today.

THE PRESENTATION TODAY

Yes Virginia – it is that time of the year once again when our group is blessed to have sixteen wonderful young voices come to our luncheon and demonstrate what good choral singing can be.  The Chamber Singers of High Point Regional High School joined us today and presented ten traditional and some not so traditional Christmas songs.  It was especially nice when they invited us to join in with them at the end of their presentation.
ANNOUNCEMENTS

There were no announcements or pronouncements from Todd this week.  HOW ODD  !!!
HOWEVER – Carl did inform the members that John Cuozzo will be making a presentation to us next Wednesday regarding Pearl Harbor.

FINAL NOTE     50/50

Wayne McCabe was the winner this week and garnered a whopping $6 for his efforts.   Wayne pulled a card – which turned out to be the ACE.  Unfortunately, the suit was HEARTS.   No winner there.  The main pot now continues its slow growth, again, and presently stands at $184.00.

ADJOURNMENT

With no other business to come before the club, President Todd announced that the meeting was formally adjourned at 1:24 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Wayne T. McCabe
